Civil War Camp

Co-sponsored by NOVA Parks and the Mosby Heritage Area Association

Do you love the programs given by the staff of NOVA Parks and MHAA?  Immerse your children in a week long program on the Civil War in Loudoun County.  Your kids will be able to learn from the expert staff and volunteers of both organizations, including: Jim Morgan, Ball's Bluff Battlefield Guide and author of the premiere book on that battle; Rich Gillespie, Loudoun County educator and Executive Director of MHAA; Doug Smith, former chief guide at Morven Park; Kevin Pawlak, MHAA Education Specialist and Licensed Antietam Battlefield Guide; and Tracy Gillespie, site manager at Mt. Zion and Aldie Mill Historic Parks.

The Civil War era comes to life in this engaging day camp for boys and girls.  Live the life of a Civil War soldier on the front lines and experience what it was like as a civilian on the home front.  Walk in the footsteps of 19th century soldiers and civilians, see the same landscapes, participate in similar activities and learn the same skills.  In this physically and mentally interactive camp, kids will be immersed in the America of 155 years ago while developing an appreciation for the rich history of our area, visiting local, preserved historic sites.
